Cork city is a superb shopping destination. The city center is compact and walkable with many of the streets pedestrianized.

The main shopping street in the city is Patrick street – which is Cork’s main thoroughfare. It runs from Grand Parade in the south to Patrick’s Bridge in the north and has recently been redesigned as a pedestrian cordial street with wide footpaths and extra street lighting. This street is lined on whether side with all the international high street shop and some larger shop like Penny’s, Marks & Spencer’s and the fashionable Brown Thomas. Other shops to be found on Patrick street consist of A-Wear, Moderne, Argos, Vera Moda, Mango, French Connection, Monsoon, Oasis, River Island, Hmv, Benetton and Quills.

If you want a Cork hotel close to Oliver Plunkett street then pick a Cork hotel like the Imperial Hotel Cork, which is placed on South Mall, The Gresham Metropole Cork Hotel or The Clarion Cork hotel.

Another good Cork hotel which has easy way to these shopping areas is the 2 star Ashley Hotel on Coburg Street, or the 4 star Jury’s Inn Cork hotel on Anderson’s Quay not far from Oliver Plunkett Street. The 3 star Hotel Isaacs on MacCurtain street is someone else good choice. This Cork hotel is just a few minutes walk over the River Lee from Patrick Street.

The enthusiastic shopper is sure to enjoy a trip to Mahon Point Shopping center – Munster’s biggest shopping center! It’s Cork’s most recent shopping center and has about 50 outlets which consist of Zara, Berksha, Oasis, River Island, Lacoste, Monsoon, Next, French Connection, Jane Norman, Pamela Scott, and Debenhams to name a few. It’s placed at the edge of Cork city in an area called Mahon and although there’s no Cork hotel nearby – the shopping center is positively accessible from the city center as it’s placed just off the N25 South Ring Road.
